THE LITTLE THEATRE OF WATERTOWN
Excellence in Community Theater
Education & Workshops

Jessie Patterson
Jessie Patterson serves as Little Theatre of Watertown’s Education & Workshop Chair. She has been involved in theatre in one way or another for more than half her life, but community theatre is where she really found her home. Since getting involved with LTW, Jessie has tried her hand at just about everything. She acts, directs, works backstage, paints sets, hunts down props, creates youth programming, and is generally happy to jump in wherever an extra set of hands is needed. Some of her favorite roles have included M’Lynn in Steel Magnolias, Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby, and Amy March in Little Women. She has also received recognition from TANYS for her work onstage and most recently directed LTW’s youth production of HAMMERED!: A Thor & Loki Play.
Outside of theatre, Jessie works in human services and is continuing her education in the field, which has a lot to do with how she approaches theatre too. She especially loves giving kids and people who are brand new to theatre a chance to find where they fit, whether that’s acting, painting a set, learning lights, making costumes, or discovering they’re happiest backstage. One of her favorite thoughts about theatre comes from Thornton Wilder, who called it “the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.” That’s really what Jessie loves about it. People come in for all kinds of reasons, and sometimes all it takes is one workshop, one audition, or one random afternoon painting scenery to find a place they didn’t even realize they were always looking for.
